September 13, 2007 – San Diego, CA – Capping a momentum-filled summer, enano® computers today announced that it has entered into an agreement with the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment (BCUE) to be the sole desktop PC provider when BCUE opens the doors on its new home in Spring 2008. enano’s e2 ecossential desktop PCs will contribute greatly to BCUE’s goal of being Brooklyn’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) – certified building for commercial interiors.
The pact with BCUE is just the latest in a summer filled with benchmarks for the green-pioneering enano Computers, including their August 2007 ENERGY STAR 4.0 certification and their September 7th Silver EPEAT certification, which includes being named to EPEAT’s ENERGY STAR 4.0 Industry Task Force. These accomplishments all come on the heels of enano’s small-form factor e2 PC being the official press room computers for July’s Live Earth Giants Stadium concert in East Rutherford, NJ.
enano’s selection by BCUE came after a rigorous selection process by the Urban Center that included strict green computing criteria and after 4 different suppliers were scrutinized.
“We used the LEED-certification criteria as a starting point for greening our new facility and the equipment within it,” explained Sandi Franklin, BCUE’s Executive Director. “Our selection of enano computers has helped make this project a model for green building across New York City.
“The Center’s selection of enano computers contributes to our facility’s goal of serving as a ‘Sustainability Exhibit’ that educates the public about how we were able to construct a green building, Franklin continued. “We considered that advances in chip energy efficiency, LCD monitors, and smart power strips could help, but were looking for a solution that would be more substantial in the long run and help set a standard for other organizations. After researching several companies, we found exactly what we were looking for in enano. With a power savings of 80%, and running 90% quieter - a huge plus for our “sustainability exhibit” - enano was the best choice. We are thrilled to be using the enano at all of our workstations, helping the agency to accomplish its mission, and making a real impact on energy use in the process.”
Leading the charge in the way of green computing, enano’s ENERGY STAR 4.0 and EPEAT certifications codify what the company has stood for since its inception, making enano one of the few manufacturers to achieve both certifications for their entire line of PCs.
“Our computers have met or exceeded the Energy Star 4.0 rating since before it was even announced by the EPA in July,” said enano COO Bill Reh. “It has always been our goal to build the most energy efficient, small-form factor desktop PCs without sacrificing performance. Constantly evolving technology, with a responsible vision for our environment, makes it incumbent upon the computer industry to lead the environmental charge rather than merely adhering to current standards.”
The enano e2 is an ultra small-form factor desktop PC that operates up to 95% quieter, 80% more energy-efficient, 65% cooler and takes up 75%+ less space than standard desktops. The e2s are the improved generation of desktop PCs created exclusively to lead in increased material efficiency, decreased packaging mass and volume and decreased energy consumption – all of which results in a quiet, cool and environmentally-friendly PC.
